A hotel in the rhythm of the mountains
The Hotel THERESA in the Zillertal combines an active alpine vacation with a stylish retreat
and excellent cuisine
Zell am Ziller / Berlin, February 18, 2026 - The Zillertal is one of the most active regions in the Alps. The Hotel THERESA is located in the middle of this landscape - generously embedded in 150,000 m² of private meadows and with direct access to via ferratas, hiking trails and bike routes
Biking routes. What distinguishes the hotel is not so much the variety of possibilities as their extraordinary concentration in a small space - complemented by a well thought-out concept for peace and quiet and retreat. The result is a house that gives active vacations in Tyrol a special quality.
Hiking with a view
The THERESA is surrounded by around 1,000 kilometers of hiking trails. The spectrum ranges from gentle alpine paths to panoramic routes and challenging summit tours - always accompanied by clear mountain streams, wide meadows and rustic huts.
The legendary Gröstl hikes to the Zellberghütte at around 1,700 meters are a special part of the weekly programme at THERESA. In around an hour, the trail leads through the alpine landscape before a classic Tyrolean Gröstl awaits hikers at the top of the hut - a hearty pan-fried dish of roasted potatoes, meat and onions prepared over an open fire. Exercise and down-to-earth cuisine go hand in hand here.
On particularly hot summer days, the guided gorge hike provides pleasant refreshment between
refreshment between rock and water.
Numerous cable cars also provide convenient access to higher altitudes and extend the range of activities for different ability levels.
Climbing & bouldering: Ten via ferratas in ten minutes
The location of the hotel is also exceptional vertically: ten via ferratas are located within a ten-minute drive - a concentration that is rare even in alpine destinations
The Talbach via ferrata, right next to the waterfall, exemplifies the quality of the region: a beginner-friendly start with emergency exits meets more challenging passages and two long via ferratas
more challenging passages and two long rope bridges for advanced climbers, which - depending on the water flow - create impressive natural drama.
In addition, numerous rock formations offer ideal conditions for free climbing and bouldering. Technique, strength and concentration are the focus here - without staging, with real alpine character.
The Zillertal on wheels
The Zillertal can be explored in all its vastness on two wheels. 1.300 kilometers of mountain bike and cycle routes lead through the
Zillertal and Tux Alps.
Whether e-bike, mountain bike or
Racing bike - the routes range from relaxed valley routes to sporty
sporty and ambitious alpine ascents. The panorama is never a backdrop, but a constant companion.
A personal recommendation comes from host Christa Egger: the tour up to the Rosenalm and back to Zell via Gmünd - a real Zillertal classic. The ascent can be easily shortened with the cable car if required, and the technical demands are manageable. This makes the descent all the more enjoyable - with its impressive scenery and high fun factor.
The Hotel THERESA provides the perfect conditions for this: Mountain bikes and helmets are available free of charge, e-bikes can be rented for a fee. Guided tours, a bike map, a lockable bike room with washing area and an optional laundry service round off the offer.
Swimming. Sauna. Silence
Activity needs balance. At Hotel THERESA, conscious relaxation is therefore an integral
Part of the overall concept - not as a supplement, but as a second dimension of an active vacation.
The 3,500 m² wellness area comprises five year-round heated, chlorine-free pools with revitalized spring water. The centerpiece is the 25-meter-long sports pool with an unobstructed view of the Zillertal mountains - designed for guests who want to swim their laps undisturbed or glide quietly through the water even on vacation. Panorama, saltwater and outdoor pools create additional space for slowing down.
The water area is complemented by a sauna landscape with a total of eight saunas that provide differentiated heat stimuli: from the Finnish Alpine and garden sauna to
Bio and steam baths to infrared and ice saunas.
This creates a spa area in the THERESA that not only accompanies active vacations, but
structurally complete.
Regeneration with an alpine touch
The THERESA's understanding of an active vacation also includes targeted muscular recovery. One example of this is the "Theresa Tyrolean-style foot and leg massage". With marmot
Massage oil - rich in natural cortisone, stimulates circulation and relieves tension - tired legs are loosened with stroking and draining movements. The
Treatment not only has a local effect, but also revitalizes the entire body. It has a lasting effect, especially after intensive bike tours, long hikes or via ferrata passages.
Culinary delights with provenance
Exercise shapes the day - in the evening, culinary delights take center stage. As a multi-award-winning gourmet hotel, the THERESA stands for cuisine that lives and breathes regionality.
Hay milk products from local farmers, fish from regional waters, game from our own hunt and bread from our own bakery form the basis of a signature style that respects tradition and interprets it in a contemporary way. Many of the producers are only a few
many of the producers are only a few kilometers away from the hotel - it is not uncommon for hiking or biking routes to lead directly past farms and alpine pastures, whose products can later be found on the plate.
Meals are served in the stylish restaurant, in the fireside restaurant or on the summer terrace - always accompanied by a carefully curated selection of wines. Culinary delights are not
staged, but lived as a matter of course.
More than just an active hotel
At THERESA, it's not about as many offers as possible, but about the right balance. Between exertion and tranquillity. Between panorama and privacy.
Those who vacation here are not opting for a program, but for an attitude: movement as an experience - and rest as a conscious decision.
