Berlin, October 2025 : The children's game "Topp die Torte!" was awarded the trade fair's player prize at the Hobbymesse Leipzig 2025. The colorful laying game by Wolfgang Warsch, which already received the title "Children's Game of the Year 2025" in the summer, also impressed the audience in Leipzig. Visitors voted "Topp die Torte!" their favorite out of around 40 current titles. For Schmidt Spiele, the award is a special confirmation, as it comes directly from the enthusiasm of the trade fair audience.
The multi-award-winning children's game "Topp die Torte!" takes two to four players aged six and over into the world of cake baking. Round by round, the players build up their own cake. Each cake layer has different fillings - and the aim is to create matching layers of the same color. Each person always has two cake pieces at their disposal. A good sense of proportion is helpful when deciding which cake piece to place, as it is not allowed to try out a piece beforehand. As soon as a cake slice is placed, you check which fillings, indicated by colored stripes, are connected to the previous layer, which yields valuable sugar cubes. The bakers collect these with great zeal and distribute them as sensibly as possible among their storage jars. Each full jar earns point chips, which help them to win at the end. After seven rounds, the game is over and the winning stars and golden sugar cubes turn the scoring round into an exciting cake-to-cake race. Who will top the others with their cake?
