Berlin, September 2025 Forget pizza and pasta clichés: since June, Kleine Hamburger Straße has been one hotspot richer. Cara is the name of Jasmin and David Suchy's new restaurant - and it brings the longing for Italy to a cosmopolitan, urban setting that Berlin has never seen before.
Here, minimalist dishes with maximum sophistication meet a clientele that loves and lives for indulgence. The menu is deliberately curated: spaghetti vongole e bottarga, homemade tagliolini with summer truffles, a lobster fregola for two or beef tartare with roasted hazelnuts - dishes that taste of the south but are narrated by Berlin. The sweet finish is provided by an addictive tiramisu.
The bar program is in no way inferior to the cuisine: From the signature drink of the house, the Cara Spritz with Mondina and Prosecco, to cocktail classics such as Basil Peach Smash and Shiso Bliss - aperitivo culture is rethought here.
The ambience at Cara is classic but full of life: warm wood, brown marble and selected works of art characterize the room and lend it a subtle elegance. The atmosphere remains timeless and at the same time full of energy - a place that takes the cosmopolitan pulse of Mitte without losing its Mediterranean lightness. The terrace blurs the boundaries between Berlin and Italy: foodies, fashion lovers and artists come together here to enjoy the evening with an aperitivo, conversation and good food.
"Cara is a place to arrive, to stay, to share - whether for dinner or simply an aperitif with friends. Our aim was to anchor the Italian lifestyle in the heart of Berlin," says co-founder Jasmin Suchy.
With Cara, Kleine Hamburger Straße has finally established itself as a foodie mecca - and Berlin has a modern Italian meeting place that combines aperitivo culture and fine dining in a new way.
